Lesley’s story

Lesley turned to homeopathy to help with several chronic health problems.

“In 2017, I went to my GP because I couldn’t lose weight, had no energy and my hormones were all over the place.  Following a blood test and other investigations, I was diagnosed with NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease).

Unfortunately, the GP didn’t offer me any treatment or suggestions for how to manage the condition. He simply said “It happens at your age – live with it.”

So, despite feeling unwell, I just got on with life – until the pandemic.

From 2020 onwards, I felt increasingly awful. I had no energy, no motivation, complete brain fog and general aches and pains. I spent a lot of time in bed or resting on the sofa. It was impossible to work.

Two local GPs put my symptoms down to Long Covid, but having never had it I was slightly sceptical.  I had blood tests, lung and heart investigations but these were inconclusive. I didn’t want to continue feeling unwell so decided to consult a homeopath as I felt my immune system needed rebalancing.

In November 2021, I had my first appointment at Jo Magowan Homeopathy. It turned out to be the start of an amazing journey of discovery and has changed my life in so many ways.

Jo is an excellent counsellor – I chatted and she listened and probed, but not just about my symptoms. Jo’s consultations and treatment plans always follow the same path – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Together, we uncovered so much that it was like peeling an onion, layer by layer. I discovered I hadn’t processed my dad’s passing properly.  I was angry around the death of my husband.  The fact that I am childless. I have suffered with depression and have always felt unworthy.

These suppressed emotions were manifesting themselves as physical illnesses. I have probably been carrying most of this around for over thirty years but during my time with Jo, I have acknowledged and worked on emotional and mental problems I had been suppressing.

It is such a shame the NHS doesn’t practice holistic medicine because we all know that where the pain materialises is not necessarily where the problem is. I am always recommending homeopathy to people I meet. Listen to your body and don’t accept you that you to live with physical or emotional pain.

If you’ve come to an impasse with conventional medicine, are being told it’s your age, or there is nothing that can be done, give complementary medicine a try. It’s been around longer than conventional medicine and a synthetic pill is not always the answer.

Thanks to Jo’s treatment, at the age of seventy I am more alive than I have been for thirty years.  I have found the real Lesley again and I am truly happy.”
